Python language for Power system engineers

There is a drastic increase in the connection of renewable energy sources like solar farms, utility scale Battery Energy systems are added to the network. These electronics-based power system assets add complexity to day-to-day power system planning and operation. In order to maintain system security and reliability, it has become mandatory to mathematically model these renewable energy resources and simulate various scenarios to assess system contingencies. However, scenario management and result analysis can quickly increase in complexity as the number of scenarios grows.
This is a highly specialized Modelling and Automation coursework for practicing power system engineers using powerful Python language. This coursework will impart in-depth knowledge of power system analysis and control scripting and automation through real case studies, current challenges faced by utilities and system operators throughout the world, integration of Renewable energy assets including solar plants, wind farms and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Continuous changes in the power sector requires the power system engineers to update themselves with the current industry practices and software recommended for it. Siemens PSS/E and DIgSILENT are such advanced software used by many utilities.
Python is a very powerful open-source language which can be used to write scripts for any industry standard power system software like PSS/E, DIgSILENT and PSCAD and automate. This course aims to teach python scripting for power system engineers with case studies. The Python API provided with DIgSILENT PowerFactory is a great asset when it comes to automating simulation-related tasks. Additionally, in combination with the well-established Python libraries for data analysis, analysis of results can be greatly simplified. Participants will be introduced to the basic Python language and sample applications in load flow, short circuit and dynamic simulation studies
